Some facts you need to know about this amazing destination that set it apart from the rest are; It has the highest concentration of huge elephants in the wild, of which one the oldest to give birth to Twins resides here; there is larger concentration of boabab trees; Lake Tarangire is permanent and rescues hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, zebras, impalas, giraffes, elephants among others that flock for water to quench their thirst during the dry season and the annual wildebeest migration season, and it is a haven to over 550 rare bird species.

 

This park has very conducive weather, day and night. Favoring chilling as well as enjoying the different activities at whatsoever time of the day. Also although the parking area ranks among the driest in the country, it has a wide range of flourishing vegetations around and far from the Lake, notably acacia woodland, baobab trees, inundated grassland, and combretum woodland among others.

 

The park has both prey and predators, rare and common in its vast grassland and shoreline. Some coming during the annual wildebeest migration to scratch the small remaining pasture. Cool their thirst before proceeding with the journey to Masai Mara reserve in Kenya. Whereas others enjoying the abundance.  A few of the prey, predators, primates. Primates present here include; coke’s hartebeest, fringe-eared Oryx, black rhinos, elephants, giraffes, Thomson gazelles, zebras, lions, leopards, Buffaloes, Bohor reedbuck, gerenuk, the wild dog, wildebeest, elands, impalas, and the greater and lesser kudu among others.

 

From Arusha city, it takes about 4-5 hour drive to the park. Whereas from Lake Manyara, its nearest neighbor, 3-4  hour drive is enough to catch-up to the land of wonder. A co-host of the annual wildebeest migration, and home to a wide range of wildlife species in Africa.

Birding
