Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from airport and Kigali city tour
You will be picked up from the airport and take a short city tour. Visit the genocide memorial grounds, Kimironko Market, and the art and gallery center.
After the tour, check in to your hotel and rest for the night.
Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park via the twin lakes for canoeing
Leave Kigali and travel to Volcanoes National Park. On the way, stop at the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo for canoeing. Enjoy the calm waters with birds flying around and the Virunga mountain ranges in the background, including Mt. Muhabura and Sabyinyo.
Canoeing takes about 2 hours. Then continue to Volcanoes National Park, arrive in the evening, check in to the lodge, have dinner, and overnight.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking experience
After breakfast at the lodge, drive to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking. Learn about the rules, necessary equipment, and check your gorilla permit.
Trek in a group of 8 with a park guide. Along the way, enjoy sights of birds, plants, waterfalls, and mountains. Spend one hour with the gorillas, take pictures, and enjoy the moment.
Day 4: Transfer to Kigali and fly to Nairobi, Kenya
After breakfast, leave Volcanoes National Park and head back to Kigali. At the airport, catch your flight to Nairobi. Upon arrival, our driver-guide will meet you and give a briefing about the rest of the safari in Kenya and Tanzania. Then, check in to your hotel in Nairobi for overnight.
Day 5: Check out and transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park
Leave Nairobi and drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. This park is home to over 100 rhinos and more than 400 bird species, including flamingos that turn the lake shore pink.
You may also see lions, giraffes, leopards, cheetahs, and many other animals. Arrive and take an evening game drive before checking in to your lodge for the night.
Day 6: Cross to Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
After breakfast, leave Lake Nakuru and head to Serengeti National Park. The journey passes through Maasai Mara National Reserve and includes border crossing, taking about 8 hours.
Watch for wildlife along the way.
Day 7: Full day game drive in Serengeti
Spend a full day exploring Serengeti with a game drive. See lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, cheetahs, gazelles, elands, topis, giraffes, and wildebeests.
If you visit during the dry season (June to September), you may see the great migration of wildebeests and zebras crossing the Mara River.
This attracts predators like lions, cheetahs, leopards, vultures, and foxes. Enjoy a picnic lunch and watch the sunset before returning to your lodge.
Day 8: Check out and transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Travel to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, known for the only intact volcanic caldera in the world. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and look for animals such as rhinos, lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and many birds like the European Swallow and Northern Wheatear. Spend time on a game drive and make lasting memories.
Day 9: Transfer to Arusha and fly home
Take a last game drive in Ngorongoro Crater to say goodbye to the wildlife. Then travel to Arusha where the safari ends and you will catch your flight home.
