10-Day Safari: Bwindi Gorillas, Nakuru, Maasai Mara, Serengeti & Ngorongoro

This 10-day tour combines some of East Africa’s best destinations: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, and Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania. You will enjoy mountain gorilla trekking, Big Five game viewing, the wildebeest migration, and bird watching.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi National Park

Meet your driver guide at your hotel in Kampala and start the journey to Bwindi National Park. The drive takes about 8 to 9 hours with stopovers at the Equator in Kayabwe and Igongo Cultural Centre for lunch.

Continue to Bwindi and check in at your lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Batwa community visit

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge, then transfer to the park offices for a briefing. You will be assigned a gorilla family to track. The trek can take between 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location, with one hour spent observing them closely.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, visit the Batwa community, where you will meet the original forest people who once lived in the Bwindi jungle.

Learn about their traditions, hunting skills, and way of life.

Day 3: Fly back to Entebbe and connect to Nairobi

After breakfast, transfer to Kihihi Airstrip for your flight to Entebbe. On arrival, connect to a flight to Nairobi, Kenya. Meet your driver guide and transfer to your hotel in Nairobi.

Day 4: Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, meet your driver guide and travel to Lake Nakuru National Park through the Great Rift Valley. Arrive by midday, check in, have lunch, and later go for an afternoon game drive.

Lake Nakuru is famous for its flamingos and other bird species. You will also see rhinos, lions, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, and other wildlife. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Drive from Nakuru to Masai Mara Reserve

After breakfast, drive to Masai Mara National Reserve, famous for the Great Wildebeest Migration. Arrive in time for lunch, then go for an afternoon game drive to spot animals such as elephants, wildebeests, giraffes, warthogs, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Full-day wildlife tour in Masai Mara

Start with breakfast, then head out with packed lunch for a full-day game drive in Masai Mara. Look out for the Big Five (elephants, rhinos, lions, buffaloes, and leopards) and other animals such as zebras, giraffes, cheetahs, and antelopes.

If the season is right, you will witness the wildebeest migration as they cross the Mara River. Optionally, visit a Maasai village in the evening before returning to the lodge.

Day 7: Cross from Masai Mara to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, check out and drive to Serengeti National Park in Tanzania via the Isebania border. Enjoy game viewing along the way as you enter the Serengeti. Check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Full-day wildlife tour in Serengeti

Have breakfast, then head out with packed lunch for a full-day game drive in Serengeti. Look for the Big Five, large herds of wildebeests, zebras, antelopes, and many predators like lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Enjoy a morning game drive in Serengeti with your luggage packed. Later, drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arrive in time for a game drive around the crater rim or relax at the lodge.

Day 10: Travel to Arusha. End of safari

After breakfast, descend into Ngorongoro Crater for a morning game drive. The crater is home to a large number of animals, including the Big Five.

Later, drive to Arusha for your departure flight or drop off at the hotel, marking the end of your safari.
