Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and cross to Bwindi National Park via Gatuna/Katuna border

Arrive at Kigali Airport and meet your driver-guide, who will give you a briefing about this safari. Start the journey to Bwindi National Park in Uganda, home to almost half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Arrive at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Batwa community tour

Start the day with breakfast and then drive to the park offices for a briefing. Begin the trek with the help of a ranger guide, who will lead you to the gorilla family. Spend one hour watching the gorillas, taking photos, and recording videos. This will be a very special experience.

After lunch, visit the Batwa community near the forest. Learn about their traditional way of life, including music, dances, fire-making using local tools, traditional meals, and dressing styles. Listen to their stories about how they used to live in the forest before leaving for conservation reasons. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Drive to Kampala and fly to Nairobi, Kenya

Wake up early and start an 8 to 9-hour drive to Kampala with stopovers. Stop at the Equator line in Kayabwe for photos, lunch, and to buy souvenirs. Continue the drive to Kampala and then fly from Entebbe to Nairobi. On arrival in Nairobi, meet your next safari guide and transfer to the hotel for the night as you prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Day 4: Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve and game drive

After breakfast at your hotel, pack your bags and start the journey to Masai Mara. Stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint for photos. On arrival in Mara, have lunch and then go for an evening game drive. Expect to see elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, elands, topis, impalas, and more. After about three hours of game driving, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Full-day game drive in Masai Mara plains

Start the day early with a morning game drive. Your safari vehicle will carry your packed breakfast and lunch. Enjoy breakfast in the bush during sunrise and have a picnic lunch around 1 pm.

You will have a chance to see lions, leopards, hyenas, cheetahs, gazelles, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, zebras, and wildebeests as they migrate between Serengeti and Masai Mara. This full-day game drive will give you unforgettable wildlife experiences.

Day 6: Drive back to Nairobi for your departure flight

After breakfast, drive back to Nairobi with a game drive on the way to spot any animals you may have missed. You will be dropped off at the airport for your flight back home. This marks the end of your 6 Days Bwindi from Kigali and Masai Mara Safari.
