Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park
Start your day with a good breakfast at your hotel in Nairobi. Your safari leader will give you a briefing before you leave. You will travel through the Kamba land, known for its round houses and small markets, then through Maasai land, before arriving at Amboseli National Park.
Amboseli lies at the foot of Africa’s highest free-standing mountain, Kilimanjaro. Arrive early and check in at your lodge or camp. Enjoy a relaxed lunch and refreshments.
At 4 PM, go on a guided game drive with an experienced guide. You will see the wonders of Amboseli and enjoy a beautiful sunset. Look out for zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, lions, elephants, buffaloes, gazelles, and many birds. After the game drive, relax at the lodge, have dinner, and rest for the night.
Day 2-3: Full discovery of Amboseli National Park
Spend two full days with your guide exploring Amboseli. You will see many animals such as bush elephants, cape buffaloes, leopards, giraffes, zebras, wild dogs, lesser kudus, mongooses, and many birds.
Some common birds to watch for include goliath herons, yellow-necked spurfowl, grey crowned cranes, African jacanas, yellow-billed storks, superb starlings, and more.
Around 400 bird species have been seen in Amboseli.
Day 4: Amboseli to Nairobi
Before breakfast, go on an early morning game drive to see animals that are active at dawn and any you may have missed before. Afterward, enjoy a warm cup of tea or coffee at your lodge.
Then check out and start the drive back to Nairobi with your driver guide.
When you arrive in Nairobi, you can go shopping in the city or head straight to the airport for your flight home. If your schedule allows, you may stay at a hotel in the city for your next day’s program.
