Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve
The trip begins with pick-up from your hotel or the airport. You will drive to Masai Mara with your guide, which takes about five hours and twenty minutes.
Check in at the lodge on arrival and enjoy a delicious lunch. Spend the afternoon relaxing at the lodge while enjoying the views of the Masai Mara landscape made up of savannah grasslands, woodlands, shrubs, and rivers. Later in the evening, dinner will be served, followed by an overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 2: Balloon Safari and Afternoon Game Drive
An early breakfast will be served at sunrise. After breakfast, enjoy a hot air balloon safari over the Masai Mara National Reserve.
This experience allows you to see the landscape from above and observe wildlife like wildebeests, lions, leopards, jackals, servals, elephants, and buffaloes.
The balloon ride continues until mid-morning. In the afternoon, go for a game drive for more chances to spot wild animals and birds before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Samburu National Park
After breakfast, begin the long transfer to Samburu National Park. The drive takes about nine hours and forty minutes. There will be a lunch stopover in Nakuru at a well-known restaurant.
After lunch, continue the journey to Samburu. On arrival, check in at the lodge and spend the evening relaxing while enjoying the views of the park.
Dinner will be served at the lodge, followed by an overnight stay.
Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Boat Cruise
After breakfast, head out for a guided morning game drive in Samburu National Park. You will have the chance to see animals such as hippos, elephants, buffaloes, cheetahs, snakes, and other cats.
In the afternoon, go for a boat cruise on the Ewaso Ng’iro River. Look out for giant crocodiles in the water and many bird species that come to the river to drink or fly above it.
Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Nature Walk and Transfer to Nairobi
After breakfast, enjoy a guided nature walk through the Samburu plains. You will see the beautiful vegetation, different tree species, shrubs, and acacia trees.
After the walk, begin the drive back to Nairobi, which takes about six hours.
