Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Head to Arusha Town – Optional Arusha Tour
Arrive and be picked up from the airport in Arusha. You may take an optional city tour to visit local markets, where you will see fresh and dry African crops for sale.
Visit the museum to learn about local history and explore religious sites like churches with unique architectural designs. Later, head to the hotel to rest and prepare for the next day’s adventure to Lake Manyara National Park.
Day 2: Head to Lake Manyara National Park and Game Drive
Leave Arusha early in the morning and drive to Lake Manyara National Park. It is one of the smallest parks in Tanzania but is home to unique animals like the rare tree-climbing lions, which are also found in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda.
After lunch, enjoy a game drive and look for wildlife like hippos, giraffes, zebras, elephants, buffalos, wildebeest, and rhinos. In the evening, check in at the lodge and have dinner.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Head to Serengeti National Park
Start the day with a morning game drive after breakfast. Look out for animals like buffalos, zebras, hippos, warthogs, flamingos, and giraffes. Later, drive to Serengeti National Park, one of the most famous places for wildlife viewing in Africa.
The plains are home to many animals like lions, elephants, wildebeest, crocodiles, hyenas, hippos, and zebras. You will also witness the great wildebeest migration if you visit between July and October. On arrival, head to your lodge for accommodation.
Day 4-5: Full Day in Serengeti Plains
Spend two full days exploring Serengeti National Park with game drives and an optional hot air balloon experience. Enjoy special moments like bush breakfasts, picnic lunches, sunrises, sunsets, and watching the wildebeest migration along with zebras (July to October).
You will see many animals such as cheetahs, leopards, wildebeest, giraffes, zebras, gazelles, kudus, hyenas, lions, crocodiles, hippos, hartebeests, bushbucks, waterbucks, and topis. Common birds include ibises, hornbills, vultures, and many others.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Exploration
After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Crater with a stop at Olduvai Gorge, a historical site where the first human skull was discovered. Visit the museum before continuing to Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive.
Ngorongoro is known for its high number of wild animals, including lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, serval cats, zebras, and wild dogs. Both large and small mammals live here. You will enjoy a picnic lunch or a hot lunch on the way. In the evening, check in at your lodge for the last night of the safari.
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast, then take a final game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater to say goodbye to the wildlife of Tanzania. Drive back to Arusha and be dropped at the airport. This will mark the end of your 7-day Tanzania wildlife safari.
