Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kakamega Forest Reserve from Nairobi

Start the day with breakfast at your hotel. Then travel to Kakamega Forest Reserve, located in the Lake Victoria basin, about 418 km from Nairobi. The drive takes about 6 to 7 hours.

You will have lunch on the way. In the evening, enjoy bird watching at Lirhanda Hill along with the sunset. Later, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 and 3: Birding adventure

Spend these two days exploring and watching birds such as Indicator exilis, Indicator conirostris, Prodotiscus insignis, Phyllastrephus baumanni, Circaetus cinerascens, Hieraaetus ayresii, Stephanoaetus coronatus, Tyto capensis, Glaucidium tephronotum, Kakamega poliothorax, Sheppardia polioptera, Hyliota australis, Dyaphorophyia concreta, Campephaga quiscalin, and many more.

The best time for birding is early morning and late evening when the birds are most active.

Day 4: Morning birding and transfer back to Nairobi

Enjoy bird watching in the morning before starting your trip back to Nairobi. Along the way, stop several times for more birding and have lunch.

You will be dropped off at the airport for your flight. This marks the end of your Kakamega Forest tour.
